Slime Streetwear
Slime Streetwear was launched by Kuku Mahammud, his brothers Levi, Samuel and Joseph, who are young Sudanese men who came to be Gippslandians from the Kakuma refugee camp situated in Kenya on July 3, 2007.
Currently Slime Streetwear has a guardianship role over “Superior” another Black/African owned clothing brand.
What inspired Slime to launch?
What truly inspired Slime Streetwear to launch was the lack of Black/African owned clothing companies, and companies in general; especially in the Gippsland region.
There are plenty of brands, companies and families who have established themselves here, or have roots in Gippsland, and all, if not most are Anglo-Australian.
Slime Streetwear represents the diverse African youth in Gippsland, and beyond.
Slime Streetwear may seem like the average, homemade T-shirt brand, but tell that to the African youth in Gippsland who have been supporting since the beginning.
Fun Fact: The word “Slime” is slang for friend, brother, mate, homie, son and other similar terms.
